Location & Taormina

How to reach Taormina by car:

closest airport Catania Fontanarossa 1 hour drive ( 60 km ). Take the motorway ( green signs ) direction Messina, exit Taormina. After the tollbooth, where the road forks, keep left and drive up-wards for TAORMINA. Follow this winding uphill road, keeping in the right lane. As you approach the town, immediately outside a tunnel, on the right side,  you will see a modern parking called Lumbi and just next a tunnel that goes undergrownd below the city for 1 km and will take you to PORTA CATANIA  ( one of the two gates leading to the main street, Corso Umberto,  which is though pedestrian ! ). Once outside the tunnel and at the traffic light drive up-wards, around the big parking and straight ahead  until you reach the square at the top Piazza Sant’Antonio, edged with restaurants and bars. Turn  right into Via Pietro Rizzo  ( the second narrow street on your right ) keep left and as you see the Police station  (on your left) turn right and drive down Via Roma (one way). Follow this panoramic road around below the town until the end, then turn sharp right here into Via Bagnoli Croci and Hotel Villa Belvedere is approximately 350 yards on the right, past the public gardens.

Bus connection 
A convenient public bus connection is available direct to Taormina quite frequently during the daytime from outside Catania airport.
